Amity® Audio Building Blocks: ABB_-_

ABB_SPS_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Symmetrical Power Supply, the ac power input side is shown here. Amity® ABB_SPS has a very low impedance 0 Volt middle and +/- 12V symmetrical outputs. This power supply is used with Amity® amplifier building blocks It can deliver up to 1 ampere impulse current and provides a very low impedance 0 Volt middle reference tap for extremely low ground noise in Amity® ABB_ building block amplifiers. The ABB_SPS has a maximum power (rms) of 3 watts and and has a UL approved, short circuit proof transformer. Sinus rms output current is 350 milli-ampere peak for +/- 12 Volt.

ABB_SPS_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Symmetrical Power Supply, ac input view. 2 standard 1.3 mm pins are for connection to 230V or 115V AC power (option: can also be direct wired with lengths as wished). Four mounting holes are provided in the corners for mounting in housings or on a motherboard. The mounting holes are located in a square, 40 mm pro side (1.575 inch). Note: the mounting holes are connected to the low impedance 0V middle tap. The Mounting holes have 3.5 mm diameter.

ABB_SPS_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Symmetrical Power Supply, the dc power output side is shown here. Mount this power supply on spacers to maintain the allowed air distance between the ac input on the bottom and the housing (or mother board). AC and DC are seperated from each other on the board by 8 mm spacing. which is ok up to 250V difference. We recommend using 10 mm spacers to mount the ABB_SPS.

ABB_SPS_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Symmetrical Power Supply, the dc power output side is shown here. Four standard 1,3 mm pins are used for connecting the +12V, 0V, and -12V dc power to your Audio circuits (option: can also be direct wired with lengths as wished). The outputs are protected for overvoltage surges. Output short circuit current is limited by the coil resistance of the transformer which is garanteed by the transformer manufacturer.

ABB_SD_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Stereo Driver, The 1/4 inch stereo jack version is shown here. The ABB_SD is conceived for use in our new Headphone amplifier serie to be on the market starting the second half of 2009. Option: The jack can be left off for direct wiring of the stero outputs. The inputs are on the back and is a row of 2 times 4 wire pads with a mounting hole in the middle (only 1 mounting hole 3.5 mm diameter). The mounting hole is not connected to the 0V. There are 2 ABB_MD_- mono drivers mounted on a mother board.

ABB_SD_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Stereo Driver. The 8 input pads on the back, looking at the back from left to right are: 1- right side input +/- signal, 2- 0V, 3- +12V, 4- 0V, (mounting hole 3.5 mm diameter), 5- 0V, 6- -12V, 7- 0V, and 8- left side input +/- signal. Technical information pro stereo channel is the same as for one ABB_MD_- below. The ABB_SD_- can be used as differential symmetrical driver to drive long cables or low impedance symmetrical audio transformers.

ABB_MD_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Mono Driver is shown here. This mono driver was conceived for symmetrical +/- signals which move above and below a 0V plane of extremely low impedance. Signal input impedance is with one resister adjustable, standard is 47 kilo-ohm. Output impedance is close to 0 ohm, adjustable up to 100 ohm with 1 resistor. Gain is adjustable with one resistor from 6 dB up to over 20 dB. DC offset is adjustable with two resistors to around +/- 1 mili-volt (DC offset is influenced by gain). Input signals must be externally dc blocked.

ABB_MD_ Amity® Audio Building Block _ Mono Driver is shown here. Connections are over a standard 8-pin 2.54 mm (1/10 inch) 90 grad header. From the component side as shown from left to right: 1- 0V, 2- +/- input, 3- 0V, 4- +/- output, 5- 0V, 6- -12v, 7- +12V, and 8- 0V. Using our ABB_SPS_- power supply, distortion is less than 0.003%, and output is up to 20 dB. Using your own Power supply, absolute maximum is +/- 18V where +/- 15V is recommended.
